Nebraska Congressional Election 2020 Political Courage Test

Pro-life Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I am general more supportive of pro life legislation. In the past, I had tried to push to reduce the abortion time from 20 weeks down to 12 weeks. I do believe that we should condinue to try and abandoned the practice of abortions, unless there is cases of rape, incest, or health related issues that could cause death.
No In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Yes Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
Everyone pays in to the government to be able to eventually have those programs. Those programs should be secured and we should limit the government barrowing from Social Security. I believe that we should be able to improve those programs and knock down the retirement age back to 62 years old.
No Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
I believe that there should not be any regulations for campaign contribution because many in office already know how to get around the regulations. The regulations only penalize people that are in the middle class and poor category.
No Do you support increasing defense spending?
I think the defense spending as it is will stabalize our military defense. I don't think we should decrease spending on military any time soon. The military budget was significantly increased about 3 years ago and thats where it should stay.
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
If we lower corporate tax, that usually means increasing tax on the middle class and poor. In many cases that causes a inequality in pay which offsets the minimum wage and increased cost of living expenses.
Yes Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
I believe that there has to be a minimum standard. But the federal government should not have complete control over our education system. I think that the federal government should set a fairly liberal standard so that the States can have the flexibility to run efficiently and expand.
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
We do have to have goals to meet certain emissions. But you have to advance technology and create obtainable goals so you don't criple the economy while you are trying to impove things.
No Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
The best form of gun control is a proper gun safety course.
No Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
I believe we should continue to improve the Affordable Care Act or merge it with Medicaid and Medicare and run a expanded program.
Yes Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
Yes Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
If I was in any other country illegally, I would be forced to leave. But, I do believe that DACA should have a path to citizenship, and that when people come to the use and have approval to stay, that they should automatically get a visa so they can work. There are issues of waiting a couple years for a court date, so while they are waiting, they should be allowed to work.
No Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
Enemies of the US searching for weapons of mass distruction will find a way to get those weapons no matter how much we try and fight it. There should be a proper penalty when they do aquire and use those weapons. I believe we could reduce our military intervention in much of the middle east and only support allied forces such as Isreal, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia and leave the rest.
Yes Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
I believe the main goals in tarrifs is creating a extra tax so the government can make more money. For economic development, we should be forcusing on the companies making the most money out of the trade deal, not the government honing in on these companies businesses.
I would like to end inheritance tax. This would be just a policy change. I would push for more trade deals and international cooperatives with India and South America. Both India and Brazil have the fast growing economy in the world. I would push to continue to legalize Marijuana for the State as well as try to push for cooperative agreements so we could expand on different areas of production. I would work on programs for reducing College debt.
